Our core fellowship program aims to inspire a new generation of global Indian leaders through structured one- and two-year grassroots service opportunities in India.  We firmly believe that contributing to the development of India at a grassroots level will help Indians around the world better understand their heritage, explore ways to strengthen the global Indian community, and encourage civic responsibility at home in their respective countries.

Indicorps manages the fellowship program, project creation and fellowship support from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.  Indicorps fellowships span 9 states and a range of topics from education to public health to migrant and artisan-based services.

Position Description:

1)  Project Development Manager(s) are responsible for facilitating the project development process for the Indicorps fellowship program, and serve as the liaison between Indicorps, partner NGOs, and the corresponding fellowship class.

2)  Fellowship Coordinator(s) are the conceptual, logistical, and administrative architects for the fellowship program, and are responsible for overseeing the progress of individual fellows over the course of the fellowship year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Development Manager(s):

  • Envision / research potential partnerships with NGOs through intensive, exploratory project site visits.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with aforementioned partner organizations.
  • Collaboratively envision substantive grassroots development projects with partner organizations.
  • Write project descriptions for August and January fellowship cycles in collaboration with the Fellowship Coordinator(s).
  • Serve as a partner in meaningful growth both within and outside the Indicorps framework.

Fellowship Coordinator(s):

  • Design the philosophical framework / support structure for the fellowship program in collaboration with the Project Development Manager(s).
  • Develop and manage the conceptual, logistical, and administrative details for Orientation (1 month-long, intensive workshop prior to the fellowship year), and the 4 themed-workshops following.
  • Correspond intensely with fellows through field visits, weekly phone calls, and periodic written updates.
  • Imagine and implement innovative ways to enable fellows to maximize their potential, both within and outside the context of their project sites.
  • Serve as a partner in meaningful growth both within and outside the Indicorps framework.

In addition to the above characteristics, it is important that a candidate possess the following experience and skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage meaningfully with people and develop innovative strategies to maximize individual / group potential.
  • Capacity to envision, develop and implement new concepts and strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage and organize time.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a community project to success.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, and deliver in a fast-faced, demanding environment.
  • Openness, humility, adaptability, and an insatiable desire to learn / grow.
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, passion, and a keen sense of humour!
