[Internship Opportunity]: Indicorps, January 2009

Wondering what you should do this upcoming January 2009? Consider Indicorps’ 4-6 month internships, starting January 2009:

Start the new year with a meaningful commitment to yourself and the world in which you live. Apply NOW for a 4-6 month structured internship with Indicorps starting 10 January 2009.

Internships will focus on strengthening Indicorps core organizational capacity:

  • Create public service announcements for radio and television.
  • Develop & execute strategies to leverage podcasts & social networks for recruiting & promotional campaigns.
  • Build an overarching structure for a global Indicorps alumni association.
  • Facilitate service leadership workshops and much more!

The January 2009 Internships are an amazing opportunity to work in a collaborative team setting, contribute to substantive Indicorps projects, understand Indicorps’ core development philosophy, and build leadership skills by achieving ambitious goals in a short time frame. You also get to partake in a 1-week Orientation Program, Thursday Speaker Series, weekly reflection sessions, the March 2009 Fellows’ Workshop, and much more.

All internships will be based at the Indicorps office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Unlike the Indicorps fellowship program, January 09 Internships are NOT limited to people of Indian origin. All internships begin on 10 January 2009 with a mandatory one-week orientation program. Only 8-10 positions are available. Application deadline is 15 November or until positions are filled.

TC-I is looking for Part-Time Writers

Organizational Background

ThinkChange India is the fastest growing blog focused on social entrepreneurship and social innovation in India. Within its first ten weeks, the blog achieved 16,000 page-views, and is currently averaging 400 unique hits a day. Our goal is to be the primary source of information/analysis on social innovation and social entrepreneurship in the context of India. In addition, we also hope to build an online community of passionate change-makers invested in India’s development through the vehicle of social entrepreneurship.


We are currently looking for part-time writers for the blog. The writers will have an opportunity to cover breaking news in the field of social entrepreneurship, research and write posts for the blog, and have a say in which social entrepreneurs the blog features. Other key opportunities include:

Internship: SciDev.Net South Asian Internship, due April 4th

Looking to develop and refine your research and journalism skills? Interested in covering development and the role of science and technology in this process? If so, apply to SciDev.Net‘s 3 month internship this summer.

In addition to daily tasks such as writing and researching news stories, the intern will learn about all aspects of how an online news website operates, including finding news stories, the editorial process, publishing and news dissemination.

The internship will consist of two months based in SciDev.Net’s London office and one month working with the SciDev.Net South Asia office in Delhi, or within the South Asian region.

The intern will also have the opportunity to visit other relevant science communication organisations in both South Asia and the United Kingdom, and attend at least one training programme.

The internship will go from mid-June to mid-September and the organization is looking for someone within the South Asian region. Questions should be sent to internships@scidev.net. More information is available after the jump.

Lending a Helping Hand in Hand

Based on last year’s success, Hand in Hand is hosting interns again this summer. The projects will take place in Kanchipuram, 2 hours west of Chennai. Projects range from solid waste management to enhancing entrepreneurial skills among MFI clients:

Every summer, Hand in Hand offers a four-week internship programme focused on well-defined projects and deliverables. The deadline for applying to this year’s programme is 31 May 2008. We welcome master and PhD students from universities all over the world to apply to the programme, and we are especially looking for graduate students in the fields of development economics, sustainable development, economics, entrepreneurship, and business. Hand in Hand will provide for room and board during the intern’s stay in Tamil Nadu, India, as well as for local transportation. However, Hand in Hand cannot bear the cost of international airfare.The deadline for applying to the Global Leaders Internship Programme 2008 is 31 May 2008. A full application, including a résumé/CV, cover letter stating your motivation, and two letters of recommendation, should be sent tointernship@hihseed.org.
